Funny Version of Woody Drawing

Funny Woody

This sketch from Jeff Pidgeon with pencil and marker was another way into the Woody character - a comic caricature to try to get more of his upbeat essence. "Jeff just draws funny," Mr. Eggleston said of the artist behind this sketch. "His drawings are very clear and you can read them from across the room." Mr. Pigeon, with a style less dimensional and more conceptual, worked on the storyboards for the film. This sketch was one of many that helped spur ideas about the kind of character Woody could be. The character went through an angry phase in the scripting process. "But we had to find ways of making him appealing and not a jerk," Mr. Eggleston said. "That was one of the bigger story challenges."
